Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by crushing pretzels in a food processor until you have about 2 1/2 cups of coarse crumbs.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed pretzels with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and 1/2 cup of melted butter, stirring until well mixed.
  3. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. Bake the crust at 350°F for 10 minutes until lightly browned, then allow it to cool completely.
  5. Blend 8 ounces of cream cheese with 1 cup of granulated sugar until smooth, then fold in 16 ounces of whipped topping.
  6. Spread the cream cheese layer evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  7. Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil, then pour it over 6 ounces of strawberry Jello, stirring until fully dissolved.
  8. Mix in the hulled and sliced strawberries, then allow to cool until it starts to thicken.
  9. Pour the thickened strawberry Jello mixture over the cream cheese layer and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
  10. Slice the salad into squares and serve chilled.
