Preparation Steps
- Begin by crushing pretzels in a food processor until you have about 2 1/2 cups of coarse crumbs.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed pretzels with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and 1/2 cup of melted butter, stirring until well mixed.
- Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bake the crust at 350°F for 10 minutes until lightly browned, then allow it to cool completely.
- Blend 8 ounces of cream cheese with 1 cup of granulated sugar until smooth, then fold in 16 ounces of whipped topping.
- Spread the cream cheese layer evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
- Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil, then pour it over 6 ounces of strawberry Jello, stirring until fully dissolved.
- Mix in the hulled and sliced strawberries, then allow to cool until it starts to thicken.
- Pour the thickened strawberry Jello mixture over the cream cheese layer and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
- Slice the salad into squares and serve chilled.
