Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cream together butter and powdered sugar with salt and vanilla for about 3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  2. Gradually sift in flour and cocoa; mix until a soft dough forms. Chill if too warm.
  3. Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F). Press dough into a lined baking tin and smooth the surface. Bake for 20 minutes.
  4. Cut into bars while warm and dock with a fork. Bake for another 20 minutes until edges are golden.
  5. For logs, roll dough into a log, chill for 1-2 hours, slice, and bake as instructed.
  6. For shaped biscuits, roll out dough and use cookie cutters. Bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Melt dark chocolate with oil; dip cooled biscuits and set on a wire rack.
