Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash and dry the firm apples, then cut them in half vertically and remove the cores.
- In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Place apple halves in a baking dish, filling with nuts and raisins if using.
- Spoon the topping mixture over each apple half generously.
- Pour apple juice or water into the dish around the apples.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
