Ingredients
  

For the Meat Sauce
  • 9 oz Lasagna Noodles regular or no-boil varieties
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil can substitute with canola oil
  • 1 cup Chopped Yellow Onion or shallots
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or turkey/Italian sausage
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 3 cloves Garlic fresh or minced
  • 24 oz Marinara Sauce ready-made or homemade
  • 1 tbsp Dried Italian Seasoning or fresh herbs
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley optional
For the Cheese Layer
  • 1 large Egg or flax egg for dairy-free
  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese or cottage cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese low-moisture recommended
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese or Pecorino Romano

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, about 8-10 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned. Add minced garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  5. Pour in marinara sauce, dried Italian seasoning, and parsley; let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, whisk an egg and mix with ricotta cheese until smooth.
  7. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan; repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
