Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar until combined.
- Slice each King’s Hawaiian roll in half without cutting all the way through. Poke holes in the bottom of each roll with a toothpick.
- Soak each roll half in the custard mixture for about 30 seconds on each side, then place cut side up on a plate.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter until melted.
- Place the soaked rolls cut side down in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until browned.
- Repeat cooking in batches, adding more butter as necessary, until all rolls are cooked.
- Serve warm, dust with powdered sugar, and top with fresh berries or a drizzle of maple syrup.
