Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar until combined.
  2. Slice each King’s Hawaiian roll in half without cutting all the way through. Poke holes in the bottom of each roll with a toothpick.
  3. Soak each roll half in the custard mixture for about 30 seconds on each side, then place cut side up on a plate.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter until melted.
  5. Place the soaked rolls cut side down in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until browned.
  6. Repeat cooking in batches, adding more butter as necessary, until all rolls are cooked.
  7. Serve warm, dust with powdered sugar, and top with fresh berries or a drizzle of maple syrup.
