  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
For the Ricotta Filling
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese Cottage cheese can serve as a lower-fat substitute.
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley For garnish.
For the Layers
  • 16 ounces Mozzarella Cheese
  • 12 noodles Lasagna Noodles Gluten-free noodles can be used.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, cooking for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  2. Once the meat is cooked, drain excess fat from the skillet. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Combine meat with tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce in the skillet. Stir in dried basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 25-30 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley until smooth and creamy.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer your lasagna in a baking dish starting with meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until cheese is golden.
  7. Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
