Baking Instructions

  3. Sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt, and mix until just combined.
  4. Pour in the hot coffee and mix gently until fully combined.
  5. Divide the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Remove cakes from the oven and cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  7. Beat unsalted butter until fluffy, gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth.
  8. Mix in melted chocolate, additional orange zest, and vanilla until fully integrated.
  9. Assemble the cake by frosting the first layer, adding the second layer on top, and frosting the entire cake.
  10. Decorate with orange slices if desired.
