  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes adjust to taste
  • 32 oz. Marinara Sauce uses as the sauce base
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano consider Italian seasoning as an alternative

  • to taste Black Pepper essential for seasoning
For the Cheese Filling
  • 1.5 cups Cottage Cheese can be replaced with ricotta
  • 1 Egg flax egg can be used for a vegan option
  • 0.5 cups Parmesan Cheese opt for Pecorino as an alternative
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Parsley fresh parsley can be a substitute
For the Noodles and Toppings
  • 12 pieces Lasagna Noodles no-boil noodles can be used
  • 3 cups Mozzarella Cheese consider substituting with provolone
  • 2 cups Swiss Cheese can be swapped with additional mozzarella

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, sauté 1 pound of ground beef and 1 pound of Italian sausage with a chopped onion for 7-10 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat, then add 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 jar of marinara sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. In a large pot, cook 12 lasagna noodles for 2 minutes less than package instructions, then lay flat to prevent sticking.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine 1.5 cups cottage cheese, 1 beaten egg, 0.5 cup Parmesan, dried parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Layer the baking dish starting with meat sauce, noodles, half of the cottage cheese mixture, more noodles, more meat sauce, remaining cottage cheese, noodles, remaining sauce, and top with mozzarella and Swiss cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes
