Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three round cake pans by greasing them or lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk and vanilla, mixing until smooth. Gradually pour this into the dry ingredients, stirring gently.
  4. Divide the batter into three bowls: mix melted chocolate into the first, add pureed strawberries to the second, and leave the third as vanilla.
  5. Pour each flavored batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Assemble by placing the chocolate layer on a platter, adding frosting, then layering the strawberry and vanilla cakes with more frosting in between.
  8. Frost the top and sides of the cake, then slice and serve with whipped cream and mint if desired.
