For the Tacos
  • 8 shells Taco Shells (flour/corn) Warm slightly before filling to prevent cracking.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese/Mexican Blend Substitution: Pepper jack for added spice.
For Toppings
  • 1 cup Lettuce
  • 1 cup Tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/2 cup Red Onion (diced)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Cilantro (chopped) Can omit for non-cilantro fans.
  • Optional Toppings Sour cream, jalapeños, guacamole, hot sauce for personalization.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Mix in taco seasoning and tomato sauce, simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Warm taco shells slightly in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds.
  5. Fill each taco shell with the meat mixture, then sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  6. Arrange taco shells upright in the baking dish and bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Let the tacos rest slightly, then top with fresh ingredients and optional toppings before serving.
