Ingredients
  

Beef Marinade
  • 1 lb Flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine plus another in sauce
  • 1 tbsp Light soy sauce plus 2 tbsp in sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce plus 1.5 tbsp in sauce
  • 1/4 tsp White pepper
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch plus 0.5 tbsp in sauce
Vegetables
  • 1 lb Broccoli cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 5 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger minced
Stir-Fry Sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Chicken broth
  • 0.5 tbsp Cornstarch
Finishing Touch
  • 1 tsp Toasted sesame oil

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Marinate the Beef: Combine the flank steak with baking soda, Shaoxing wine, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, white pepper, water, and cornstarch in a large bowl. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare Stir-Fry Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together 1.5 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp dark soy sauce, sugar, chicken broth, and 0.5 tbsp cornstarch.
  3. Boil Broccoli: Boil salted water, add broccoli and blanch for 1-2 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  4. Cook Beef: Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Sear the marinated beef for 30 seconds on each side and remove from the pan.
  5. Stir-Fry: Add another tbsp of oil, sauté minced garlic and ginger for 30 seconds, add broccoli, then the beef and stir-fry sauce. Cook until sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve: Drizzle with toasted sesame oil and serve hot, garnished with green onions if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Reheat gently, adding water to keep sauce from thickening too much.
