Ingredients

For the Stir-Fry
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Can be substituted with ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • 4 cups Green Cabbage Shredded; Napa cabbage is a softer alternative.
  • 1 medium Onion Diced; shallots can be used for a milder taste.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Grated.
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce Or coconut aminos for a low-sodium option.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes Optional; add more for extra heat.
  • 1 tsp Salt To taste.
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper To taste.
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Sliced, for garnish.
  • 2 tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds Optional, for garnish.

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and no longer pink.
  2. Carefully drain excess fat from the skillet, leaving a bit for added flavor. Add the diced onion to the skillet, stirring frequently for 3-4 minutes until the onions become golden and translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, allowing them to cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet, stirring well to combine with the beef mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cabbage wilts and softens yet retains a bit of crunch.
  5. Mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and optional red pepper flakes in a bowl. Pour this sauce over the beef and cabbage mixture, stirring to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
