Wings Over Solitude I always imagined that on the day I turned another year older, I would be surrounded by children’s laughter and the warm hugs of my partner.
But life took me to the skies. I am a pilot, and my home is usually the cockpit of an airplane, where the blue sky embraces my days and my nights.
Today is my birthday, and as I wait for takeoff, I look out the window and see the vast expanse that I have crossed so many times.
When I chose this profession, I heard many people say that “it’s no place for women” or that “I should prioritize a family.”
I proved to myself and to the world that yes, the dream of flying could also be mine.
Every step was an achievement: the first perfect landing, the proud look from my parents, the long-awaited certification.
Sometimes, the career demanded sacrifices. Relationships that didn’t survive long trips, a dinner date swapped for an unexpected flight.
