The doctors were convinced I was expecting seven babies; everyone in the delivery room had already sighed with relief after the seventh cry, but suddenly, the doctor said, “Wait…”
— and in a second, it became clear that no one was prepared for what he discovered in me at the last moment.
During a routine examination, the doctor stared at the screen for too long and then said, “We see seven fetuses.”
“Seven.” From that day on, my life changed completely. People looked at me with wonder and concern, asking me questions, but I just stood there every night listening to my babies’ movements, praying only that they would be born alive.
The pregnancy was difficult. Every ultrasound was stressful, every due date agonizing, and the closer the moment got, the more I felt that the doctors, despite their efforts to stay calm, were aware of the risks.
