From the first contractions, they brought me to the hospital. In the delivery room, everything was prepared; everyone was waiting for the arrival of seven newborns.
Then came what I had feared for months. The first cry was heard, then the second, the third, the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, the seventh, and a collective sigh swept through the room as if everyone was desperately holding on.
“Seven,” someone said. For a moment, I also believed it was over, that my children were safe and sound, that the worst had passed.
The seven cries had already echoed, seven babies had been born, and all I wanted was to close my eyes and cry with relief.
